What do we do:

We design and make quadcopters for competitions then watch our creations go head to head against other schools and see which one them was better designed!

The main competition we compete in is called the Midwest Robotics Design Competition, MRDC, and its located not too far from us at our sister school, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

All of our drones are designed using Solidworks and then 3D printed right here at the UIC makerspace.

Some previous projects that the drone team has competed in is:

  • MRDC 2019
  • The Maurice Prize 2017/2018 – 1st Place
  • S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s (CCDC) Inaugural Student Vehicle Design Competition – 3rd Place

Some future projects that the drone team will be planning on competing this year are:

  • MRDC 2020
  • The Maurice Prize

The Maurice is a competition hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago where the school intends to foster the innovation, creativity, and resourcefulness of undergraduate students. The students are then asked to create something that will in some way shape or form help benefit mankind.
